Live Events and Corporate Meetings: How to Pull off a Successful Event

Live events and corporate meetings can be complicated. There's the technical aspect of coordinating audio, video, staging etc. and then there's the actual content or message that needs to be conveyed. I sat down with a few folks from our live events team recently and asked them, what really makes a live event a success? Here's what Rich, Gael and Ken had to say:

What really makes a live event successful is certainly working with the client and collaborating on the vision for what you want it to look like, but then, absolutely being uber uber uber organized. It's organization, you really have to plan a lot because so many things happen so fast when you're at the event, so if you plan everything in advance carefully everything will go smoothly. There are so many things that can go wrong with a live event that you almost have to be thinking two and three and five and six steps ahead on the what-ifs so that you've got it covered.

The second most important thing is content. You want to make sure that the message that you're delivering at that meeting is concise and effective. and that your audience is able to take that message home, take it in themselves and learn something from that meeting. Go out and be inspired. I gotta say, when I started working with Rich and the live events team, I was just dazzled by their work and I still am. I'm not really a live events person and yet Rich has managed to kind of draw me in and sure enough he's gotten me on some of these events, I've gotten some experience and it's just amazing to see all the elements that they put together and all the things that come together at that moment, with that immediacy.

Audience Participation

The last thing you want at your corporate event is your audience falling asleep and not getting the message so we whenever possible we try to inject some fun into it, we always try to have lots of cool visuals going on and we manage to get some of these top corporate officials to have some fun, to loosen that tie and do some silly video, some meeting opener. All of us come together to deliver a really strong message to the audience so they walk out of that meeting feeling a little more empowered, a little more excited and ready to approach their job with new zest.
