Bobcat vs. building: demolition update

1418-w-st-paul-demo-update.jpg

Two and half months have passed since our groundbreaking event at 1418 W St. Paul in the Menomonee Valley and it’s been incredible to watch the transformation of Plum’s future home. Demolition commenced immediately after the event and I’m excited to report that it’s complete with the exception of a few small details. I was hoping to hop into the Bobcat myself but apparently there were a few liability concerns with a video producer taking on major demolition of a large building. Something about supporting walls and beams. What could go wrong?  Minor details.

Looking ahead, the rough electrical, plumbing and HVAC installations are nearly complete and the new reception area is taking shape. I’m very happy with the progress to date and the staff couldn’t be more excited to see office walls start going up around Memorial Day weekend.

As with any construction project, there have been a few challenges and surprises along the way. For example, in the Goodbye Kiln, Hello Garage video, you’ll see that we discovered an area requiring more work than originally anticipated. However, that discovery enabled us to salvage and restore some solid wood planks that we’ll be repurposing as shelves in the reception space kitchen.

Two months down and only three to go before we welcome our family, friends and clients to the new Plum Media!
