Ignite the Spirit is in place to assist Milwaukee Firefighters who have built their lives around helping others. In 2017, multiple members of the Milwaukee Fire Department required assistance that could not be formally given by anyone other than their fellow Firefighters. Though many answered the call, Ignite the Spirit - Milwaukee was established in 2018 as a way to proactively fundraise and ensure immediate assistance is available when needed.
Ignite the Spirit is a a 501(c) (3) organization created and managed by Milwaukee Firefighters, and all members of Ignite The Spirit - Milwaukee are unpaid volunteers.
